Background

Founder members, David McKenna CEng MCIBSE and Richard Bate BSc(Hons), had been working within the construction industry for over 30 years.

Their vision for the Company was that it would offer a fresh approach, delivering professional independent testing, consultancy and product certification with enthusiasm, passion and a genuine commitment to the customer.

They also wanted to create a Company that was large enough to be able to service all sizes of business, yet not so large that it could not be flexible and adapt to clients needs.

With these ideals in mind, Build Check was formed.

Profile

Established in 2004, Build Check has gone from strength-to-strength, becoming a highly respected provider within the marketplace.

The Company operates throughout UK and Europe, with clients of varying sizes, from both the building and the manufacturing sectors.

It operates a Management and Quality system conforming to ISO/IEC 17025 (Testing) and BS EN 45011 (Certification) and is accredited by

UKAS for:

• Airtightness testing to ATTMA TS1 and BS EN 13829:2001 for Building Regulations Part L1 and L2
  
  

• Acoustic testing: Pre-completion testing for Building Regulations Part E

  
  

• Thermal transmittance to BS EN ISO 10077-1:2002; 10077-2:2003 and BS EN 673:1998




• Build Check Certification*: Windows & Doors scheme meeting the requirements of the BFRC energy rating

BFRC (British Fenestration Rating Council):

• Have accredited Richard Bate, Michael Handley and Clive Cox for modelling the energy performance of windows to attain BFRC Window Energy Ratings




• Build Check are approved by the BFRC as an IA (Independent agency) for their energy rating scheme
